Introducing the new, sustainability staff newsletter
The Sustainability Team has developed a Sustainability Newsletter which will be published bi-monthly. This newsletter will be a central place in which you will be able to find details on, and how you can get involved in, a variety of sustainability events happening across the world and locally within NHS Lanarkshire.

The newsletter will feature different hot topics within sustainability and examples of best practice from across the organisation. There will also be updates from the Sustainability Team on the work that is being done to progress the sustainability agenda – Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy.
The NHS Lanarkshire Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy outlines our path to net-zero emissions and to record current projects as well as upcoming ones. As part of “Our Health Together”, The Sustainability Team will look at ways to prioritise actions that simultaneously improve patient care, community wellbeing, and reduce inequalities, while tackling climate change and broader sustainability issues. The Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy aims to make NHS Lanarkshire a net-zero emission health board by 2040. The plan makes sure to plan for and make investments in capital while boosting operational effectiveness.
Craig Brown, Head of Sustainability & Environmental Performance, NHS Lanarkshire, said: “Why is net zero/carbon reduction/sustainability action so important? The planet has finite resources, and the ultimate goal is always to do more by using less resources. NHS Lanarkshire faces very challenging times in relation to meeting net zero by 2040. To deliver this, action must be taken now to ensure the best possible chance in reaching net zero by 2040 and delivering a net zero health service in Lanarkshire.”
