Mar 19, 2024

NHS Lanarkshire scooped two awards at the recent New College Lanarkshire Apprenticeship Awards.

The accolades include the coveted Employer of the Year Award, as well as the distinguished Business Administration Apprentice of the Year title, won by one of our exceptional apprentices, Emma Bruce.

The Employer of the Year Award stands as a testament to NHS Lanarkshire’s unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and providing an enriching environment for professional growth.

Nicole Grant, Senior Employability Advisor/Job Coach Lead, said: “The apprenticeship program reflects NHS Lanarkshire’s commitment to ensuring a robust pipeline of skilled professionals in the wide variety of roles within the organisation that are required in order to deliver excellent care to patients.

“By nurturing young talent, we can enhance services and shape the future of healthcare in Lanarkshire.

“These modern apprentices are the future of frontline healthcare wider services, and we are thrilled to have them join our NHS family.

“We aim to provide these apprentices with a comprehensive learning experience that will equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their careers.

“This award recognises our dedication to fostering a culture of learning and development within our organisation.”

Emma’s triumph as the Business Administration Apprentice of the Year is a proud moment for both her and NHS Lanarkshire. Her outstanding achievements exemplify the talent that our apprenticeship program attracts and nurtures.

Emma said: ‘I am so grateful to have received the Business and Administration Modern Apprentice of the year award. I appreciate the recognition for my work over the last few months and the efforts I put in the complete the course.

My apprenticeship wouldn’t have been the same without the help of those involved in the background. A big thank you to my college assessor who filled me with praise and confidence in every piece of work, my colleagues and managers for supporting me in my training and development. Also a big thank you to the Employability Team for always checking in on me.

I will continue to develop within my job role and I really look forward to the future. I recommend undertaking an apprenticeship to others as it has given me an industry recognised qualification and entry into a whole new area of work.’

NHS Lanarkshire’s enduring partnership with New College Lanarkshire has been instrumental in apprentices’ success over the years. The college’s support and delivery of top-tier healthcare and business administration qualifications have enabled our apprentices to thrive in their respective roles.

Nicole added: “Since the establishment of our Employability Team 18 months ago, NHS Lanarkshire has made significant strides in expanding our apprenticeship program.

“The introduction of the first group cohorts of apprentices has not only bolstered our organisation with fresh talent but also enriched our workforce with diverse perspectives and a wealth of skills.

“We are excited to build upon the success of our partnership with New College Lanarkshire and eagerly anticipate welcoming our next cohort of Business Administration and Healthcare apprentices this summer. “
