The Learning and Organisational Development team continues to work with teams across NHS Lanarkshire to explore what our organisational values look like in everyday practice. More than just a conversation, these sessions provide dedicated time for teams to reflect on the behaviours and interactions that shape their workplace culture.
Importantly, these are not training sessions. They are facilitated discussions that create a safe space for staff to celebrate where they already live the values well, explore opportunities to strengthen them further, and agree practical actions that can support their team moving forward.
While formal evaluation of the programme is ongoing, one clear benefit is the opportunity for teams to pause, reflect and consider the influence they have on organisational culture. Every interaction matters, and every member of staff has a role to play in creating positive experiences for colleagues, patients and communities.
To help colleagues understand the programme journey so far, a new short video has been developed, outlining where the programme has come from, where it is now and what happens next.
Siobhan McRorie, Learning & Organisational Development Manager said: “This video captures the journey of our values programme so far and highlights the incredible work happening in teams across NHS Lanarkshire. It’s an opportunity to share the progress we’ve made, celebrate the commitment of colleagues, and help more people understand how they can get involved.
“While posters and communications help keep our values visible, real culture change happens through everyday conversations, behaviours and interactions. That’s why these sessions are so important. They create space for teams to recognise what they already do well, strengthen connections with one another, and identify practical ways to make an even greater difference.
“We’ve had great engagement from colleagues across the organisation. It’s inspiring to see teams reflecting on the part they play in shaping our culture and recognising that each of us has the ability, and the responsibility, to influence the experience of those around us every day.”
Teams that have not yet participated in a Values Session can contact the Learning and Organisational Development team at learningandod@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk to arrange this.
