New leadership changes in director roles

Apr 19, 2024

We are delighted to welcome our new director of acute services and our new interface director to their leadership positions within NHS Lanarkshire.

Russell Coulthard has taken up the role of director of acute services as of Monday 15 April 2024. Russell will lead the financial and transformation programme for 2024/25 and beyond with full responsibility for acute services.

Trudi Marshall is taking up the new role of interface director from 22 April as a secondment from her role as nurse director of University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire. Key to this role will be our new interface directorate, which will streamline the links between primary and secondary care through its management of an enhanced version of our Flow Navigation Centre (FNC) – FNC+Plus.

Professor Jann Gardner, NHS Lanarkshire chief executive, said: “We are very excited to be welcoming two such experienced and highly capable colleagues into their new roles. Russell and Trudi’s leadership will make an important contribution to driving forward our service plans and putting innovation at the core of our activity as we move into phase three of Operation FLOW – Transform, Reform & Perform.”

“I am also extremely grateful to Judith Park for leading on a crucial area of work to finalise our planned care plans between now and her retirement at the end of June.”

Judith, our outgoing director of acute services, has now begun her phased retiral. During this period Judith will undertake the role of director of planned care working with Scottish Government and colleagues to finalise the NHS Lanarkshire 2024/25 planned care plans as well as continuing to lead on the regional neonatal service plans during this time.

Professor Gardner said: “On behalf of the board and everyone in NHS Lanarkshire, I want to thank Judith for her outstanding contribution in her role of director of acute services and wish her well when her retirement comes. Judith has played a key role in NHS Lanarkshire over many years and will be missed greatly when she retires. We will have many further opportunities to celebrate her time in Lanarkshire and wish her well before the end of June.”
