Professionalism in healthcare conference

Sep 7, 2023

Professionalism in healthcare conference is organised by a team of clinician educators who are passionate about professionalism.

The event taking place on 6 October 2023 at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow provides a platform for discussing the latest challenges, successes and ideas around professionalism in healthcare. Delegates will discuss the latest research in learning, teaching and assessment of professionalism; practicalities of ‘professionalism in action’, and share perspectives with colleagues working at all levels across a broad range of disciplines and professional backgrounds.

Organised by Scott Oliver, Consultant Nephrologist and Physician at University Hospital Monklands, Dr Kathleen Collins, Paediatric Specialty Doctor & Clinical Lead Trainer (paediatrics) at University Hospital Wishaw, Dr Alex Goodwin, Clinical Teaching Fellow in Professionalism and Catherine Paton, Associate Director of Medical Education, this year’s event has attracted a high calibre of speakers and interesting topics including:

  • Dr Emma Stokes, Trinity College Dublin Fellow – “On balance – understand it, find it and holding on to it”
  • Professor Denis Fischbacher-Smith, University of Glasgow – “Achieving Work-Life Balance”
  • Nathan Oliver, Simulation Convenor at University of Canberra School of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health – “Healthcare simulation”
  • Workshops “Applied improvisation training to develop professionalism” and “The role of simulation-based education in fostering professionalism”?
