Social care staff across Lanarkshire are being supported to access flu vaccination through a joint approach this winter.
A range of vaccination opportunities is available for staff working across council, independent and third-sector social care services, including drop-in clinics across Lanarkshire.
Professor Soumen Sengupta, Chief Officer for Health and Social Care for South Lanarkshire, and Lynsey Allan, Scottish Care’s Independent Sector Lead for South Lanarkshire, visited Auchlochan House Care Home in Clydesdale, where they met staff and received their flu vaccinations.
Chloe Davies, senior nurse at Auchlochan House Care Home, said: “I’ve had my vaccine today to help protect residents at the care home and other vulnerable people in the community, as well as keeping myself safe.
“I’d highly recommend getting your vaccine to help keep everyone safe this winter.”
Professor Soumen Sengupta said: “Social care staff support people across our communities every day and my thanks go to all of our colleagues for everything they do, particularly through the winter months.
“Our vaccination teams also play an important part, helping make vaccination as accessible as possible to health and social care staff.”
Professor Donald Macaskill, Scottish Care Chief Executive, said: “Vaccination is about protection, solidarity and recognising the vital contribution of our social care workforce.
“The work across Lanarkshire, bringing together NHS vaccination teams, councils, Scottish Care and local providers, is a practical example of the coordinated approach we need across Scotland to make vaccination more accessible.
“By working together to provide more opportunities for social care staff to be vaccinated, we can support our workforce and help protect the people who rely on social care.”
Further information about vaccination centres, including locations and opening times, is available from NHS Lanarkshire, with further information about flu vaccination available from NHS Inform.
