In the lead-up to the NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards 2026, we are shining a spotlight on the exceptional individuals and teams shortlisted for this year’s awards.
Today, we are celebrating the Clydesdale Health Visiting Team, which supports children and families across a large and often rural area stretching from Law Village to Abington.
In 2023, two teams merged to form one service. Colleagues relocated, established new working relationships and brought separate systems together, all while continuing to provide essential care to local families.
Throughout this change, the team demonstrated resilience, patience and compassion, emerging as the highest-performing health visiting team in Lanarkshire.
One of its standout achievements has been improving completion rates for the vital six-to-eight-week child health assessment.
The team reviewed the entire process, strengthened relationships with GP practices, raised awareness among families and developed a bespoke tracking database to ensure no child’s assessment was overlooked.
In September 2025, Clydesdale became the only health visiting team in NHS Lanarkshire to meet and exceed the Scottish Government target. Its approach is now being rolled out more widely as an example of best practice.
The team has been shortlisted in recognition of the way its members combined teamwork, innovation and determination to transform practice and help ensure children receive timely, high-quality early-years care.
The NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 7 October 2026.
