We’re striding forward with walking challenge sign-ups

walking challenge

The NHS Lanarkshire walking challenge has made a great start, with half of the places taken within the first week of registration.

So far, 147 teams have signed up, with an average of five members per team. Thanks to their efforts, 75 trees have already been planted on our behalf.

The challenge officially kicks off on Friday 15 August, taking participants on a virtual tour of world landmarks. We start at the breathtaking Table Mountain, South Africa – one of the official New7Wonders of Nature. We finish at Skara Brae, the prehistoric village on the largest island of Orkney.

Each step logged by staff moves NHS Lanarkshire closer to completing the route and planting even more trees along the way.

Teams can include up to 10 members, so there is still plenty of opportunity for colleagues to get together and take part.

Lesley Mackay, Staff Health and Wellbeing Project Manager, said: “We’re delighted with the response so far. It’s fantastic to see so many colleagues getting involved, improving their health and wellbeing by being more active, and contributing to environmental sustainability through tree planting.

“There’s still time to register, so gather your team and start stepping towards better health.”
