As NHS Lanarkshire prepares for the busy winter months, we’re inviting staff to take part in hands-on training sessions next month to explore how Hospital at Home Virtual Wards can support you in your role and the patients you care for.
Running on 17 and 18 September, the sessions provide a practical introduction to the Doccla virtual ward platform – the same system already helping patients recover safely at home under close clinical supervision.

Why take part?
Claire Ritchie, Interim Director of the Interface Directorate, said:
“As we plan for, and move into, the winter period, we understand the very real pressures this brings for staff. These training sessions are there to support you – giving clear, practical answers and building confidence in how virtual wards can help ease demand while ensuring patients continue to receive safe, high-quality care.”
The sessions are open to all staff – whether you’re directly involved in virtual ward delivery or simply want to see how the technology works and how it integrates into patient care.
Claire added:
“These sessions are about creating space for listening, learning, and collaboration – exploring together how virtual wards can fit into care pathways in ways that support staff, ease pressures, and deliver the best outcomes for patients. The aim is to help improve patient flow, and help you deliver safe, high-quality care in the right place, at the right time.”
