STV capture another busy night at University Hospital Hairmyres

Aug 24, 2021

STV’s news team were on site at University Hospital Hairmyres on Monday evening to capture yet another exceptionally busy night at the hospital.

The hard-hitting report led STV’s News at Six on Tuesday, featuring our staff giving an uncompromising insight into the unrelenting pressures all the staff are under at our acute sites and indeed across all our healthcare settings.

We would like to thank Carol Miller and Nicola Hendry in the Acute Medical Receiving Unit, Tricia Johnston and Dr John Bollan in the staff care and wellbeing hub, Dr Calvin Lightbody and Rachel Lees in A&E, chief of nursing services Lise Axford and everyone else at Hairmyres for accommodating and supporting filming on Monday evening.

The main feature is no longer available on the STV Player but a preview is still available here and a written report here.

The report features our colleagues at University Hospital Hairmyres, including those working tirelessly in the busy A&E, but these pressures are reflected across our services and all our staff are working harder than ever to care for patients.

The report on our wellbeing hub from Wednesday’s programme can be viewed here. (Note: you need to log in and link is only available until 6.30 on Thursday 26 August).
