The South Lanarkshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (SLADP) Business Support Team are getting a Big Shout Out for the openness, honesty and responsibility they bring to partnership working, and for the way they ensure the voices of individuals and families with lived experience genuinely shape services across South Lanarkshire.
This team plays a vital role in bridging a wide range of partners, connecting services and promoting collaborative, joined-up approaches to tackling drug and alcohol related harms.
Their commitment to listening is at the heart of their work as they create meaningful opportunities for people with lived experience, and their families, to be heard and to influence decisions that affect their lives and communities.
Through ongoing consultation and engagement, the team has helped establish a culture of openness and shared responsibility, where individuals and families are not just consulted, but actively involved in steering the local response to alcohol and drug harms. This approach recognises that lasting change is only possible when services are designed with people, not for them.
The team consistently takes a whole-family approach, designing and implementing services that work across South Lanarkshire to address health inequalities, improve access to care and challenge stigma. Their work is grounded in honest conversations about need, risk and harm, and a strong sense of responsibility to ensure support reaches those who need it most.
A powerful example of this is the development of a whole-family approach tender, co-produced with families affected by substance use. The tender was successfully awarded and is now in its third year. Over the past year, the resulting service has been recognised as a gold standard for what families impacted by substance use should expect.
This service provides assertive outreach support to families, promotes family-inclusive practice, and offers vital harm reduction advice, including access to Naloxone, helping families to stay informed and supported.
The impact of this work has been recognised nationally, with the SLADP Business Support Team presenting to the Scottish Government and at national conferences, sharing learning and demonstrating what responsible, transparent and collaborative partnership working can achieve.
