NHS Lanarkshire staff are being invited to take part in hands-on training sessions next month to experience the technology that’s helping reshape care delivery across the region.
The sessions, running on 2 and 3 July, will offer a practical introduction to the Doccla virtual ward platform – the same system now being used to support patients safely and effectively in their own homes.
The training is open to all staff, whether they’re directly involved in virtual ward delivery or simply want to understand how the digital equipment works and how it fits into the wider care pathway.
“We’ve had a lot of interest from colleagues across different departments asking how Doccla works, what the equipment looks like, and how it integrates with the patient journey,” said Hazel Mitchell a General Manager in the Interface Directorate. “These sessions are designed to answer those questions in a clear, supportive, and accessible way.”
The rollout of virtual wards, alongside Hospital at Home and Flow Navigation Centre Plus (FNC+), forms a key part of NHS Lanarkshire’s transformation of urgent and community care.
The system has already helped patients recover safely at home while remaining under close clinical supervision – and staff feedback has been central to shaping its implementation.

Each session is limited to around 18–20 attendees and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. (Note: Wishaw sessions have increased capacity.)
