Diabetes Specialist Nursing and Dietetic Services

There will be a gradual reintroduction of face-to-face out-patient clinics for the Diabetes specialist nursing and dietetic services.  This will be offered in the three acute hospital sites and a large variety of community clinics.

Outpatient activity has continued for both of these services during the COVID-19 pandemic, although the majority of our clinical reviews have been carried out by video or telephone consultations.

If appropriate for face-to-face review, a patient will be contacted prior to the appointment to discuss how the service has changed. Patients will be advised that staff will be wearing appropriate PPE and the appointment may take a little longer than on previous occasions.  They will also be advised of any changes to the location or the how the hospital / clinic site is now managed.

The aim is to restart face-to-face clinics on a regular basis, across Lanarkshire by mid to end August.

If appropriate for a remote consultation, patients will be contacted by letter and offered an option of either a video or telephone call, depending on preference and circumstances.

If you have any queries in relation to this service, please contact Diabetes Service, Hunter Health Centre on 01698 753960.
