What is the vaccine (jag)?

It is a liquid given to you in a jag.

The doctor or nurse will give you the jag.

Why have the HPV jag?

The HPV virus is very common and you catch it by having sex.

This jag helps to prevent against cervical cancer which can grow in your cervix which is inside your vagina.

It doesn’t stop all infections, so you will still need a cervical smear when 25 years of age.

If you want to get the jags you need to sign a form to say you will have it this is called a consent form.

Your HPV vaccine (jag)
If under 15 years

a jag being done twice

You will need 2 jags. Your school will tell you when you are to have your jags.

After 1st jag

2nd -6 months later.

Mark your appointments in your calendar.

If over 15 years of age

3 jags

You will need 3 jags.

2nd -1 month after the 1st jag.

3rd -3 months after 2nd jag.

Side Effects

After jag

Your arm may go a bit red, feel sore.

You may feel tired.

You may get an upset stomach or have a headache.
