If you get hurt or feel sick you might need to come to the Accident and Emergency Department in the hospital.

It is important to bring your medicine with you.

Go to the reception desk.

Tell the receptionist:

  • your name
  • your address
  • your date of birth
  • the name of your doctor

A&E can be noisy and busy.

You will need to sit in the waiting room until the nurse calls out your name.
The nurse will ask you some questions.

The nurse will ask if it is okay to check your temperature, blood pressure and pulse.

You might need to have an x-ray.

You might need to have blood taken from your arm.

If you are in pain, the nurse might give you some tablets to take.

You may need to wait to see a Doctor.

The doctor will call your name.

The doctor will ask you if it is okay to examine you.

The doctor will then tell you if you can go home.
