Optometry
Optometry is a regulated healthcare profession concerned with eyecare, vision and visual systems. Optometrists are primary healthcare practitioners trained to examine the eyes to detect defects in vision, signs of injury, diseases of the eye or abnormality and problems with general health, such as high blood pressure or diabetes. Optometrists prescribe and fit glasses, contact lenses, other visual aids to improve vision and refer patients for further treatment, when necessary.

Pharmacy
Our Pharmacy staff work within our hospital wards and clinics alongside other healthcare professionals to provide advice and support to patients on how to take their medicines. They identify and make sure that medicines patients were taking before admission to hospital are still appropriate before they leave the hospital.
Pharmacy staff also work in primary care settings including our health centres and GP practices. They see patients who need help and advice with their medicines and treat people with long term conditions, such as asthma and diabetes.
Community pharmacies are where you can buy over the counter products for minor ailments such as coughs, aches and pains. You can get prescriptions your dispensed and receive lifestyle advice for better health, including information about giving up smoking, losing weight and healthy eating.

Psychology

Out of Hours
The primary care out of hours team is a dedicated multi-disciplinary service, consisting of GPs, senior charge nurses, advanced nurse practitioners and nurse practitioners who all work together to ensure patients are seen and treated in a timely manner.
Calls into the service are triaged to ensure the patient receives the best form of care, whether that be over the phone, at home or face-to-face at the primary care centre.
