We have a new Guide to Written Communications using the plain English standard
It’s on FirstPort – Guide to Written Communications.
Amanda Minns, NHS Lanarkshire Head of Evidence, said: “This practical guide outlines what plain English is and how we can use its standards to make our communications easier and simpler for our audiences.
“We ask that all staff use this when creating any written information or communications materials in print or online.
“Service users and staff can have additional needs relating to the written word and the easier we make our communications, the more likely it is we will be understood.
“Bear in mind that the typical reading age in Scotland is 9 to 11 years old.”
