On World TB Day, we’re underlining our commitment to tackling tuberculosis through early detection, effective treatment and continuous public awareness.
TB remains a global health challenge but we’re determined to reduce its impact both locally and globally. Our dedicated centralised TB clinic at University Hospital Monklands, which has been operational since 2014, continues to provide expert care, screening, treatment and support to those affected across Lanarkshire.
In 2023, Scotland saw a worrying rise in TB cases, but we’re responding with determination. By working closely with healthcare professionals, local communities and public health initiatives, we aim to reduce TB transmission, eliminate stigma and ensure that everyone has access to the care they need.
We recognise that poverty, migration and social exclusion continue to challenge TB management, and we remain committed to addressing these factors through collaboration and support.
This World TB Day, we’re encouraging everyone to be aware of symptoms, seek medical advice if concerned and help support the global effort to end TB for good.
Together, we can make TB a disease of the past.
