Dear Colleagues,
As we continue to navigate this exceptionally challenging week, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your unwavering commitment to our patients and to the people of Lanarkshire.
The recent cold weather, coupled with high levels of flu has placed huge pressure on our health services. Despite these challenges, you have continued to demonstrate the upmost resilience, professionalism, and compassion.
We know some of you have stepped forward to work additional shifts and shown great flexibility to adapt to the demands of this difficult time. Your efforts have been critical in maintaining patient safety and ensuring that we deliver the best possible care under extraordinary circumstances.
Your hard work is deeply appreciated—not only by us in NHS Lanarkshire but by the communities you serve. Colleagues in all roles across the organisation are making a real difference.
We have seen some improvement in the situation during the week from the actions we have taken, but we know that things will remain challenging over the weekend. Flu is still affecting many people in Lanarkshire and the cold weather has caused a surge in demand for orthopaedic services. Your ongoing efforts will continue to be crucial.
Thank you for continuing to rise to these challenges and support one another as #TeamLanarkshire.
I am hugely grateful for all that you do, and for the incredible impact you make every day.
With sincere appreciation,
Jann Gardner
Chief Executive
NHS Lanarkshire
