The NHS Lanarkshire branch of Unite the Union made a £1,000 donation to a local counselling service.
Branch Chair Leanne Thomson said: “Lanarkshire Counselling and CBT Centre is a family-run service in Coatbridge offering counselling and the psychotherapy CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy).
“We thought it was a very worthy cause for our fundraising and Branch Secretary Mandy Taylor went along to present our £1,000 donation on behalf of members.
“As a Community Interest Company, the initiative enables people facing financial hardship to access services without the burden of a large cost.”
Lanarkshire Counselling and CBT Centre describes itself as committed to providing a safe, accessible place for members of our community to self-refer for affordable and effective therapy.
Since opening in late 2017, it has been busy with requests from the local community for support, therapy and guidance, despite never having advertised its services.
The service has around 40 self-employed, qualified therapists and also has 50 trainee therapists, who also offer counselling.
