Nineties band comeback of the year

Jul 31, 2025

The excitement has been building. Fans have been waiting for that iconic nineties band finally reuniting.

Forget Oasis, The Morning Early are back – with our very own Stephen Peebles, Deputy Director of Acute Services, on bass and vocals.

The cult Glasgow four-piece, originally formed in the mid-nineties, have reformed after a hiatus of more than 20 years.

The Morning Early are known for their mix of sixties garage, psychedelic vibes and nineties guitar pop.

Stephen said he’s thrilled to be back in the rehearsal room and sharing something creative with old friends.

He said: “It’s been a real joy to reconnect and make music again.

“There’s something special about finishing work and getting together in the studio or on a stage.”

Since they reformed in 2023, The Morning Early have been steadily building momentum – releasing their debut single Truth In Your Heart in February, followed by Notice Me in April.

Their long-awaited, self-titled debut album, The Morning Early, dropped on 28 June, via the indie label Last Night From Glasgow. The album is available on vinyl and to stream on all the usual platforms.

Critics and fans alike are loving their evolution — from jangly nineties riffs to genre-blending melodies, topped off with album artwork by Scottish actor Colin McCredie, who appeared in Taggart and River City.
