Frontline health and social care staff can still book their winter vaccine appointment at: https://www.nhsinform.scot/winter-vaccines/
Frontline health and social care workers are eligible for both the flu and Covid-19 vaccines and it’s important to get vaccinated this winter to protect themselves and those around them including patients and their families.
The flu and Covid vaccines are offered every year as the viruses change from year to year. This year’s vaccines have been developed to provide the best possible protection against the viruses expected to circulate.
This week the Scottish Ambulance Service provided support with a vaccine bus at Kirklands Hospital. Dr Chris Deighan, Executive Medical Director took the time to get his flu and Covid vaccines on site.
Dr Deighan said: “Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and others and we’re pleased to see so many people in Lanarkshire coming forward to take up the offer.
“Evidence shows that the flu virus changes over time and COVID-19 vaccine protection fades. The vaccinations offered this season can top up your protection against severe illness from flu and COVID-19.
“Those that have not yet received their vaccines are strongly encouraged to come forward and make an appointment. We also advise checking our local arrangements as we have a range of vaccination sites and pop up clinics.”
