Staff Awards finalists selected following record-breaking nominations

Aug 5, 2026

Excitement is building for the NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards after the judging panel met to select the top three nominees in each award category.

This year’s Staff Awards received a record response, with nominations increasing by 43% compared with last year. The entries recognised the exceptional contributions of colleagues, teams and volunteers from across NHS Lanarkshire. Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination and recognise the dedication, achievements and impact of colleagues across the organisation.

The judging panel, which included senior directors and two of NHS Lanarkshire’s non-executive directors, had the challenging task of carefully examining the shortlisted nominations and considering the achievements, commitment and impact demonstrated by each nominee.

Panel members Jacqui Jones, Jacqui McGeough, Trudi Marshall, Lesley McDonald, Sylvia Stewart and James Muir brought a wide range of experience and perspectives to the discussions. Following detailed consideration and debate, the panel reached a consensus on the three finalists in each category.

Jackie McColl, Deputy Director of Communications and chair of the judging panel, said: “The standard of nominations this year was incredibly high, and selecting just three finalists in each category was an extremely difficult task.

“Every nomination told a powerful story about the dedication, compassion and professionalism shown by our staff and volunteers. The panel took great care to consider each nomination fully and ensure that everyone’s contribution was given the recognition it deserved.

“Reaching a consensus was not easy, but it was a real privilege to hear about the remarkable work taking place across NHS Lanarkshire every day. Everyone who was nominated should feel extremely proud.”

The finalists will now be contacted to let them know that they have been shortlisted and will be invited to attend the Staff Awards ceremony later this year.

Throughout September, NHS Lanarkshire will also feature a video highlighting each shortlisted individual and team, giving colleagues the opportunity to learn more about their work, achievements and the difference they have made.

Staff will also have the opportunity to help select the winner of the People’s Choice Award. A shortlist of nominees will be made available online, where colleagues from across NHS Lanarkshire can read more about their achievements and vote for the nominee they believe should receive the award.

The three nominees who receive the highest number of votes will be invited to the Staff Awards ceremony, where the overall People’s Choice Award winner will be announced.

The winners of all award categories will also be revealed at the ceremony, which will celebrate the individuals and teams who make an outstanding difference to patients, colleagues and communities across Lanarkshire.
