In the lead-up to the NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards 2026, we are shining a spotlight on the exceptional individuals and teams shortlisted for this year’s awards.
Today, we are celebrating Samantha – or Sam – Clark, an assistant practitioner with the Camglen Integrated Community Support Team who colleagues describe as their digital and operational backbone.
Alongside managing a full clinical caseload, Sam notices what the service needs and takes action without waiting to be asked.
She resolves IT and equipment issues, coordinates resources, supports new members of staff and keeps essential systems running. Her work helps prevent disruption that could otherwise delay care for patients in the community.
When working hours changed at the beginning of the financial year, Sam took responsibility for updating information, preparing annual leave records and resolving rota discrepancies.
Although this work had not been formally assigned to her, Sam’s accuracy and initiative helped protect the service and relieve pressure on team leaders.
She also strengthens the human side of the team by organising celebrations, recognising important milestones and creating a weekly crochet group that brings colleagues together.
Even while coping with a close family bereavement, Sam continued to offer support and kindness to those around her.
Sam has been shortlisted in recognition of the stability, connection and compassion she quietly creates, enabling colleagues to work effectively and helping patients receive reliable care.
The NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 7 October 2026.
