Compassionate, skilled and tireless in her care — Consultant Obstetrician and Fetal Medicine sub-specialist Dr Lesley Walker has been named a finalist in this year’s NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards.
Since joining Lanarkshire Women’s Services in 2022, Lesley has transformed local care for families navigating complex pregnancies. Her specialist expertise now means most couples no longer need to travel to Glasgow for tertiary-level consultations — reducing stress, delays and clinical risk at a time when every hour counts.
Whether supporting a diagnosis of fetal anomaly or offering reassurance after a previous loss, Lesley brings warmth, clarity and respect to every consultation. She often works through breaks and stays late to deliver timely results, urgent scans or counselling — always putting families’ emotional wellbeing first.
She’s also the calm, collaborative force her colleagues turn to, offering advice, hands-on support and continuity for women giving birth to babies with known complications.
