Staff Awards 2026: Nominations Open

May 8, 2026

Across NHS Lanarkshire there are individuals and teams of hardworking dedicated staff who gone above and beyond for our patients, their families and for each other.

The yearly Staff Awards is an opportunity to showcase the outstanding work performed by staff day in day out. Whether it’s outstanding care, a brilliant improvement idea, compassionate support behind the scenes, or teamwork that helped a service through a tough period, this is your chance to shine a light on the moments that often go unrecognised.

NHS Lanarkshire Chief Executive, Louise Long, said: “The Staff Awards are an important opportunity to recognise that commitment and to say a heartfelt thank you to the people and teams who make such a difference across our organisation.

“Whether someone has delivered outstanding care, supported colleagues through a challenging time, introduced a new idea, or quietly made things better behind the scenes, we want to hear about them. If someone has made a difference to you, your team or your service, please take a few minutes to nominate them.”

The Staff Awards are about celebrating what’s best about our organisation: kindness, professionalism, innovation, collaboration and the small and big things that improve patient care and staff experience.

The 2026 award categories reflect the wide range of contributions made across NHS Lanarkshire. This year, staff can nominate individuals or teams for Excellence in Care and Compassion; Innovation and Improvement; Outstanding Team Collaboration in both clinical and non-clinical settings; Unsung Hero awards for clinical and non-clinical colleagues; and Volunteer Contribution. There will also be special recognition through the Chair Award and Chief Executive Award.

New for 2026, we are also introducing a People’s Choice Award, giving staff the opportunity to help choose a winner.

A nomination doesn’t have to be too long. A few genuine examples of what someone did, and the impact it had, is often what makes a nomination powerful.

To submit a nomination, visit the Staff Awards page and complete the online nomination form.

You will be asked to choose the award category, tell us who you are nominating, and explain why they deserve to be recognised. This should include what they did that stood out, the difference it made, and how they demonstrated NHS Lanarkshire’s values.

You can nominate colleagues and teams from across NHS Lanarkshire. If you’re unsure which category fits best, the guidance on the nomination page will help.
