Stacy Jones marked turning 40 by taking on the Welsh equivalent of Munro-bagging to raise funds for us.
Lanarkshire woman Stacy, who now lives in Wales, climbed the country’s 15 “3000s” – peaks above 3000 feet – after her mum, Marion Slavin, received fantastic care at Udston Hospital in Hamilton.
Stacy raised £1210 for the Lanarkshire Health Board Endowment Fund, our charity that uses donations to fund a range of items and activities that benefit patients.
She said: “I began fundraising earlier this year and am delighted to have completed the challenge.
“The team at Udston’s rehabilitation unit helped my mum with her stroke recovery at the start of 2022. The occupational therapy and physiotherapy support she received made such a big difference to mum’s recovery.
“As a family we were so grateful that there was this wonderful local hospital to provide support.”
Inspired by the treatment given to her now 72-year-old mum, who’s from Hamilton, Stacy completed the 15 peaks during five separate hikes, taking 122,000 steps in total.
