Quality Improvement (QI) network launch event

May 17, 2024

NHS Lanarkshire launched the QI network on Monday 6 May 2024. The event was held at University Hospital Hairmyres and over 40 members of staff were in attendance.

There was a great sense of enthusiasm, passion and commitment to QI and how we grow the QI Network.

The event was opened by Dr Augusta Anenih, Consultant Neonatologist and Scottish Quality and Safety Fellow. Augusta highlighted that in order to be a high performing organisation, social networking is essential in order to share diverse ideas, to encourage propagation of excellence and build trust.

QI stories were then shared by six members of staff who have had completed various QI training programmes. This was an inspiring session and fantastic to hear about different QI journeys and how members of staff have and continue to apply their learning and skills.

Next up, there was a poster and networking session. This was a fantastic opportunity for staff to share Improvement work, ideas and discuss all things QI. Many thanks to all of those who shared their work.

The final session focused on the QI network’s purpose moving forward. Attendees were asked to join forces and share ideas for the development of the network. Suggestions included:

  • A QI network yearbook, sharing a photo and bio for each member
  • A QI project repository
  • QI network leads and contact for each operational unit
  • QI network steering group

The next steps are to share the ideas from the event with the wider QI network and to share the purpose of the QI network following feedback at the event.

Many thanks to all those who organised and were involved in the event. We look forward to seeing what NHS Lanarkshire’s QI future holds.
