NHS Lanarkshire staff are being advised of an upcoming change to core mandatory (previously known as compulsory) e-learning modules, with a new national ‘Once for Scotland’ (OfS) module suite scheduled to launch on Monday 2 March 2026.
The new modules form part of the national Protected Learning Time (PLT) programme and have been developed following the Agenda for Change Review Recommendations, aiming to create a more consistent approach to core mandatory training across NHS Scotland
Preparatory work has been underway locally to support implementation. This has included mapping existing modules to the new national modules and ensuring learning systems are ready ahead of the March launch, helping to ensure a smooth transition for staff.
Siobhan McRorie, Learning and Organisational Development Manager, said: “The introduction of the Once for Scotland core mandatory training modules is an important step forward in simplifying and standardising core mandatory learning for staff.
“For colleagues in NHS Lanarkshire, the new national modules will replace existing local modules on our learning systems, but staff will only complete them when their current training expires, rather than needing to repeat training early. For the two newly introduced core topics – Fraud Awareness and Understanding Equality, Diversity and Human Rights – staff will have a six-month period in which to complete them. We will continue to share updates and guidance over the coming months to support staff and managers ahead of the March 2026 launch.”
