Nominations open for award in memory of colleague

Nov 5, 2026

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2026 Jane Davies Award.

The Jane Davies Award for Person-Centred Practice is presented each year in memory of our former NHS Lanarkshire colleague, who passed away on 29 August 2022.

It is organised through What matters to you? at Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS).

Jane worked in the NHS in Scotland for more than 34 years. Her career spanned NHS Lanarkshire, the Scottish Government, NHS Education for Scotland, before joining HIS, where she was head of engagement programmes. Jane was also a founding member of the What matters to you? network in Scotland.

Throughout her career, Jane’s passion was helping people who work in health and care services to focus on compassion, kindness and the things that really matter, and working to create the conditions that help people who receive health and care services to get the best possible care and attention.

This award aims to give an opportunity to continue the work that Jane loved so much, and for others to be influenced by her example and the values she held at her core.

Nominations for the award from health and social care services are now being accepted. Entries can be for an individual or a team. Awards will be presented following the final scoring and shortlisting process. Nominations should be returned by 20 November.

Last year, Motherwell’s district nursing team (pictured) was announced as the runner-up in the Jane Davies Award. The team was nominated for the award by Marie Harvey, who highlighted the team’s outstanding ability to place the patient and family at the heart of care while treating her dad, Peter.

You can make your nomination by filling in this MS Form.
