Staff across NHS Lanarkshire are being encouraged to nominate their colleagues for the Staff Awards 2024.

This is your opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of teams and colleagues across the organisation.

One of last year’s successful nominees was the pan Lanarkshire Pre-Operative Assessment Team, who won the award for innovation and improvement.

The team, who won at NHS Lanarkshire’s Staff Awards 2023, were the first pre-operative team in Scotland to introduce a brand new digital system for appointments.

Speaking in 2023 regarding their award win, Lynn Hogg, senior charge nurse for the pan Lanarkshire pre-assessment service, said: “I think it’s a very proud moment for us all. I don’t think anyone in the team has ever been nominated for an award before. So it’s a fantastic achievement across the board and for three separate teams to come together to develop this.

“I am very proud and surprised to win this award. Our whole team, across the three acute sites just look at what we do as part of our day to day job.

“We always develop and we always improve to provide a better patient experience. So to find out we won was a huge surprise.

“When we saw the nomination, we were very proud of what somebody has seen in us. To nominate us is an absolutely fantastic honour.”

The nominees will be reviewed by an independent judging panel, with shortlisted nominees being invited to the Staff Awards ceremony, which will take place this Autumn.

Additionally, all nominees will be considered for the Big Shout Out, an initiative that highlights creativity, innovation, and exceptional ways of working and caring for each other.

By submitting a nomination via the nomination portal, you will also have the chance to enter your nominee for upcoming national Scotland’s Health Awards, further acknowledging their dedication and hard work.

This year colleagues can be nominated under five award categories:

  1. Care and Compassion – Recognises individuals or teams who demonstrate exceptional care and compassion by showing empathy, supporting activities that enhance wellbeing, respecting and valuing individuals, and committing to the wellbeing of others.
  2. Innovation and Improvement – Celebrates those who drive improvement through innovation, whether by testing new approaches, ensuring continuous improvement, introducing new ideas or technologies, or adopting new ways of working to enhance performance.
  3. Collaboration – Honours individuals or teams who exemplify effective collaboration across boundaries, promoting integration through person-centred approaches, working cross-functionally, and engaging in collaborative projects and services.
  4. Volunteering – Acknowledges the invaluable contributions of volunteers who devote their time, energy, and enthusiasm to positively impact health and social care services, and support patients, carers, and families.
  5. Global Citizenship – Recognises those participating in high-quality, ethical, and sustainable global health work in low- and middle-income countries, demonstrating a commitment to improving health and social care through international partnerships.
