NHS Lanarkshire was delighted to recently host our new International Medical Graduates (IMGs) at the Ken Corsar Medical Education Training Centre (MTEC), Kirklands Headquarters for a three-day induction programme.
This nationally commended programme ran for the second year and provided a comprehensive framework designed by NHS Lanarkshire staff focused on welcoming IMGs by addressing local policies and guidelines, pastoral care, career progression, professional practice, equality values as well as providing clinical skills and scenario based teaching.
In addition to the MTEC supporting staff, there were over 25 faculty members taking part in this robust induction programme, aiming to ensure that IMGs feel valued and supported as they transition into NHS Lanarkshire.
Dr Farhat Mushtaq, Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Lead Clinical Trainer for IMGs, said: “I was delighted to welcome our new international medical graduates to our induction programme. I hope this gave them the knowledge, skills, tools and techniques that will help them get started in their career with NHS Lanarkshire”.
