NextGen recently hosted a successful careers information event.
The main goal of the NextGen programme, which is run by NHS Lanarkshire’s Medical Education Department, is to broaden access to medicine in NHS Lanarkshire for the following generation.
On September 7th, the programme held its most recent Careers Information Event, designed to highlight all of the careers offered by NHS Lanarkshire in various departments.
Three hundred students, teachers, parents, and guardians from all around Lanarkshire attended the event, which was an enormous success. Departmental representatives from approximately 32 distinct professions, in addition to local education providers, were on hand to engage in conversation and offer their insights into their areas of expertise, as well as to respond to inquiries regarding qualifications, careers, paths, etc.
The event was able to provide simulation sessions where the young people could simulate diagnosing a patient, suturing, venepuncture, cannulation, and more for the first time since 2020. These sessions were extremely popular, and even parents and grandparents participated!
You can see further images of the event on NextGen’s social media account here.
The next event date of Tuesday 26 March 2024 has already been secured so if you would like to get involved please email leeann.montgomery@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk
