North partnership appoints associate medical director

Dr Adam Daly has been confirmed as Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire’s associate medical director.

Since joining NHS Lanarkshire as a consultant in old age psychiatry in 2010, Dr Daly has worked in medical management over the past nine years. He had carrying out the associate medical director role on an interim basis since January.

Through the role, he will continue to play a crucial part in shaping the healthcare landscape in North Lanarkshire and feed in to NHS Lanarkshire’s wider work. He will have a particular focus on North Lanarkshire’s paediatric, sexual health and primary care services.

Dr Lucy Munro, medical director, Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, said: “Dr Daly has made a significant impact during his time in the interim role and his permanent appointment is very welcome.

“His appointment is great news for the people of North Lanarkshire, and NHS Lanarkshire as a whole. Dr Daly has a wealth of experience and expertise that’s already been invaluable in helping us plan and deliver high-quality healthcare services for the people of North Lanarkshire.

“His role comes with significant responsibilities and he is tackling these head on. Dr Daly’s track record and expertise make him a real asset and he’s working hard supporting our teams to deliver services that meet the needs of people across North Lanarkshire.”

Dr Daly commented: “The interim role gave me an excellent opportunity to meet all the teams and witness first-hand the great work they do.

“I am truly looking forward to collaborating further with our exceptional services and building upon their excellent work. Together, we will strive to enhance healthcare services and ensure the well-being of people across North Lanarkshire.”

Nationally, Dr Daly is the chair of the SIGN Dementia Guideline Development Group, and is meetings secretary with the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Scotland having previously been chair of the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry.
