May 22, 2025

Chrissie Coulombe

Chrissie Coulombe has returned to NHS Lanarkshire as Director of Infection Prevention and ControlĀ (IPC).

Chrissie said: ā€œThroughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to the field of IPC, developing my expertise and leadership across multiple healthcare organisations in Scotland and through collaboration across the UK.ā€

She first came to Lanarkshire as an IPC nurse in 2006, taking on various roles that strengthened her leadership experience.

Chrissie recalled: ā€œMy expertise continued to evolve, leading me to NHS Fife in 2015 as an infection control manager.

ā€œI returned to NHS Lanarkshire in 2019, stepping into the position of infection control manager and head of service for IPC. Navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic further reinforced my commitment to healthcare resilience and innovation in IPC.

ā€œTwo years ago, I joined Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) Scotland as a nurse consultant for IPC. I was seconded to the Scottish Government, serving as a professional adviser for healthcare associated infection and antimicrobial resistance in the chief nursing officer’s directorate. This role allowed me to contribute to and shape policy development and national IPC strategy.

ā€œI’m delighted to have returned to NHS Lanarkshire to continue my mission to strengthen IPC programmes.

ā€œMy goal is to prepare for, adapt and respond to the challenges facing our healthcare system as we continue to recover and refresh our approach to health and care while supporting the delivery of safe, effective care for and with the people of Lanarkshire.ā€
