Something exciting is on the horizon for colleagues across NHS Lanarkshire.
This summer, we’re launching our brand new Move More Challenge, designed to get everyone moving more, feeling better, and connecting as teams. Building on the success of previous walking challenges, this year’s refreshed format is more inclusive than ever, with a wide range of activities that mean there’s something for everyone.
To mark the Commonwealth Games returning to Scotland for the third time, this year’s theme is the Commonwealth Challenge. Together, we’ll take on a virtual journey across all 74 nations and territories — promoting movement, wellbeing and teamwork along the way.
The challenge will run from 23 July to 20 August, with registration opening on 29 June, so now is the perfect time to start thinking about how you and your colleagues can get involved.
The Move More Challenge isn’t just about steps. With over 50 activities that can be converted into steps, you can take part in a way that suits you — whether that’s walking, cycling, swimming, or finding simple ways to move more throughout your working day.
Lesley Mackay, Staff Health & Wellbeing, said: “The Move More Challenge is about so much more than physical activity – it’s about supporting our staff to feel healthier, more connected and more energised in their day-to-day lives. We know that everyone’s starting point is different, which is why this year’s challenge has been designed to be as inclusive as possible, with a wide range of activities that allow colleagues to take part in a way that works for them.
“Whether it’s getting out for a walk, taking part in a fitness class, or simply finding small ways to move more during the working day, every step really does count. Challenges like this also bring teams together, creating a sense of shared purpose and a bit of healthy fun along the way.
“I’d really encourage colleagues across NHS Lanarkshire to start thinking now about how they’d like to get involved and to look out for registration opening at the end of June – it’s a great opportunity to prioritise your wellbeing and be part of something positive together.”
Places will be limited, so keep an eye on Pulse for registration details, links and QR codes coming soon.
In the meantime, start planning your team, setting your goals, and getting ready to take on the Commonwealth Challenge together this summer.
