Several members of NHS Lanarkshire’s medical education team recently presented their innovative work at the Prato International Clinical Skills Conference in Italy which celebrated its 20th year with the theme ‘Past, Present and Future’.
The presentation by Scott Oliver, deputy director of medical education; Kathleen Collins, lead clinical trainer and sub-dean for Glasgow University and Catie Paton, associate director of medical education resulted in a lively discussion on what standards of professionalism should be used, whether this should vary by discipline and seniority, and the manner in which it could be assessed.
Their presentation covered a number of topics including exploring the impact of profession in inter-professional simulation-based education, positive professionalism in medical education, practical solutions for integrating professionalism content into the undergraduate medical curricula and building blocks for undergraduate medical students in paediatrics.
