SPOTLIGHT

Lanarkshire to spotlight ‘alcohol & work’ during Alcohol Awareness Week

Jul 7, 2025

Lanarkshire’s reducing alcohol harms groups will lead a week long campaign to raise awareness of how drinking habits can undermine health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Alcohol Awareness Week, which will be held from 7–13 July, will spotlight the national theme ‘Alcohol and Work’. The week aims to open a conversation about how our daily routines influence drinking habits—and how small changes can protect our wellbeing.

Lorna Shearer, health improvement senior – alcohol, vaping and cannabis team, said: “Many employees can underestimate the toll of headaches, hangovers, sleepless nights and anxiety on their mental health.

“We’re inviting every department and team to start a conversation about how small changes to drinking habits can make a big difference to health, productivity and happiness.”

Drop in sessions and pop up stalls will be hosted by NHS Lanarkshire sites throughout the week.

Anyone concerned about their own or someone else’s drinking can contact:
