Karen Black will be exploring the beautiful waters of the west coast of Scotland on the famous Paddle Steamer Waverley this summer!
Karen, part of the clinical trials team at University Hospital Wishaw, has won the latest Pulse competition by correctly answering the Waverley was built in the 1940s.
On winning the trip on the Waverley this summer, Karen said: “A trip on the Waverley has always been on my bucket list but I’ve never found the time to plan it so I thought I would enter this competition.
“I am delighted to have won this special prize. I remember holidaying in Rothesay as a child watching the boat go past and thinking I would like to do that so it will bring back special memories.
I am looking forward to my trip down the water and will be taking my husband, hopefully the weather will be kind to us. I am looking forward to sailing on a piece of Scottish Maritime history.
“The Pulse lets the readers keep up with what is happening within the NHS and I enjoy reading the stories. It is also a good resource to find out what NHS staff benefits are on offer.”

Built in 1947, the magnificent steamship cruises the waters of the West Coast of Scotland, linking Glasgow, Greenock and Largs with the beautiful islands, lochs and Highland villages around the Firth of Clyde and West Highlands.
