Judging complete for the 2025 Staff Awards

Jul 24, 2025

The judging panel for this year’s NHS Lanarkshire Staff Awards has now met.

They have completed ranking nearly 250 individual and team nominations across seven categories, selecting the candidates who will go forward to the final stage.

Chaired by Jackie McColl, Deputy Director of Communications, the panel was made up of Trudi Marshall (Executive Nurse Director), Sylvia Stewart (Employee Director), Jacqui Jones (Deputy Chief Executive and Director of HR), Phillip Couser (Non-Executive Board Member), Scott Haldane (Non‑Executive Board Member) and Kirsty Cole (Head of Organisational Development).

Trudi Marshall, Executive Nurse Director, said: “I had the absolute honour and privilege of participating in the judging panel. The nominations were of such high quality that choosing the finalists was really difficult, but it was fantastic to see all the work our staff do.”

Jacqui Jones, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of HR, said: “It’s both humbling and uplifting doing this. When you actually see the nominations, the contributions people make really hit home on a personal level. I’d encourage even more colleagues to put entries in next year because they showcase the amazing staff we have in NHS Lanarkshire.”

Scott Haldane, Non‑Executive Board Member, said: “We had nearly 250 nominations across the range of categories. It was a really humbling experience. Congratulations to everybody who was nominated, particularly those who have made it through to the shortlist.”

Thanks to feedback from last year’s ceremony, new awards have been introduced this year.

The awards now recognise achievement in the following areas:

  • Excellence in Care and Compassion
  • Innovation and Improvement
  • Outstanding Team Collaboration (Clinical)
  • Outstanding Team Collaboration (Non‑clinical)
  • Unsung Hero (Clinical)
  • Unsung Hero (Non‑clinical)
  • Volunteer Contribution

Each category will recognise one winner and two runners‑up, all of whom will be invited to the Staff Awards ceremony later this year.

The judges’ shortlists will be published on Pulse and the Staff Awards website in August.
