It’s 19 days into this year’s walking challenge, with 23 days to go, and collectively the teams have walked a whopping 270,902,054 total steps (as of Sunday 11 June).
49 teams have walked all the way to the Isle of Barra, with six teams even crossing the finish line:
-
- Parkside Grand Prix – 2,423,402
- Notorious SRB – 2,399,534
- Gighas a break! – 2,076,074
- Forensic Flyers – 2,023,434
- Bare Below the Elbows1,951,150
- Conquerors – 1,783,328
The Healthy Working Lives Team has put together some ideas of how to fit more walking into each day, should staff wish to do so:
- Schedule a walking meeting
- Add steps to your day by parking further away
- March on the spot when on the phone
- Walk to get water to keep you hydrated during the day
- Eat your lunch away from your desk
The Healthy Working Lives Team is providing goody bags throughout the challenge for staff members to win by sending in pictures from their ventures during the Walking Challenge. Congratulations to Irene Ventura of Sky’s the Limit team who won the first photo competition of the challenge and a Lucky Bag! Irene ventured to John O’Groats and walked along Duncansby Head just few steps away from Hoy!
There are over three more weeks to go, which means more chances to win a goody bag.
Mary McGibbon, Health Improvement Senior – Healthy Working Lives, NHS Lanarkshire, said: “Congratulations to all taking part, keep logging your steps and hope everyone is enjoying the fabulous Scottish Weather and the beautiful fun filled facts of the Scottish Isles.
“We’re continuing to collate all photo entries to share at the end of the challenge, with a round-up of your fabulous efforts over the course of the journey.
“To enter – share a photo of yourself out getting your steps in by sending them over to enquirieshwl@nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk.”
