Graduate apprenticeship recruitment open

May 17, 2023

An exciting personal development opportunity has arisen for staff to apply for a four-year under-graduate programme (SCQF 10) at Glasgow Caledonian University from September.

The graduate apprenticeship programme will allow candidates to study while continuing to work in their existing substantive NHS Lanarkshire role.

The degree frameworks available are:

  • BSC (Hons) in AI & Data Science;
  • BA (Hons) Business Management;
  • BA (Hons) Cyber Security.

Please join the information session on Tuesday 30 May 2pm-3pm on MS Teams – Click here to join the meeting

Service delivery manager Lyle Boylan graduated with a first-class honours degree in IT-Management for Business through the programme.

Lyle said: “It gave me the chance to restart my career and challenge myself to grow and improve. It was a chance to go to university when I thought that had passed me by.

“Balancing work, learning and life was the most challenging part. Having work life responsibilities while trying to undertake the required hours for the course was tough, however, the rewards certainly outweigh the pressures and hardships.

“Personally, I found it all very rewarding. I liked being able to focus on certain parts of my learning, which directly tied into my daily work duties, and what I would like to work towards long term. That direction, rather than simply learning a whole raft of IT skills as with a normal degree, allowed me to maximise the experience for my benefit, and also the organisations benefit.

I would highly and strongly recommend a graduate apprenticeship, I found it one of the most rewarding professional endeavours I’ve ever undertook. Yes, it’s hard work and it is difficult to keep on top of the studies while doing day to day job tasks, however, it is worth it.”
