Full of Beans – Fun, Healthy Ideas for Families

Full of Beans, NHS Lanarkshire’s Healthy Lifestyle and Weight Management’s (LWMS) enjoyable and engaging programme is welcoming families from across Lanarkshire, to come along and take part in enjoyable activities while learning handy and easy tips on healthy topics.

The next block of the programme, which starts the week of Monday 10 February, is run in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture for those with children aged between two and five years old.

Classes last for 1 hour and there’s something for the whole family to enjoy as each week covers a different healthy theme such as to help with fussy eating, healthy snacking & managing screen time before taking part in some physical activity games.

Older brothers/sisters/family me​mbers are also welcome along​​ too.

Classes are held in leisure venues across North and South Lanarkshire.

North:

  • Mondays – Condorrat Library 10.30 – 11.45
  • Thursdays – Wishaw Library 9.30 – 10.45
  • Fridays – Viewpark Library 11.00– 12.15

NHS Lanarkshire staff are welcome to come along, and can also refer families who would benefit from learning healthy tips to Full of Beans. Please complete this short referral form and email to LWMS@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk. You can also access this on FirstPort.

Kerry McLeod, Children and Young Persons Dietetic Team Lead – NHS Lanarkshire Heathy Lifestyle and Weight Management Service, said: “Full of Beans is a fantastic programme for families to come along and have fun, learn and be active!

“The class begins with everyone learning and getting involved in the Full of Beans song, before playing exciting games.

“Children really enjoy their time there and the full family can learn more about living a healthier lifestyle.”

One Full of Beans participant said: “The classes are very friendly, I would 100% recommend to a friend. There are songs and games for the kids to enjoy and lots of running and playing too!”
