NHS Lanarkshire is developing its first anti-racism plan – and all colleagues are being invited to help shape it.
The draft plan outlines our proposed priorities and actions to address racism, support our diverse workforce and ensure equity in care.
This is just the beginning and we’re asking for your feedback to make sure the plan truly reflects the voices and needs of those who live and work in Lanarkshire.
Professor S Josephine Pravinkumar, NHS Lanarkshire Director of Public Health and Health Policy, said: “This is not just an internal strategy, it’s a shared commitment to doing better for everyone in Lanarkshire.
“Racism, in all its forms, impacts people’s health and wellbeing. We are asking the public to help us identify what needs to change and how we can become part of that change.”
The draft plan focuses on key themes such as inclusive leadership, workforce, culture and tackling health inequalities.
Staff are asked:
- Do you agree with the priorities we’ve identified?
- Are we focusing on the right areas?
- What are your reflections from a staff perspective?
- What might this plan mean for our patients?
Jacqui Jones, NHS Lanarkshire Director of Human Resources (HR) said: “We know that racism and discrimination can harm people’s health, confidence in services and quality of care.
“We want to hear from those who use our services. Your voices and your experiences are key to making sure this plan is meaningful and effective.”
Staff can review the draft plan at https://www.nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk/get-involved/consult-engage/anti-racism-plan/ and submit their feedback by email to LAN.Anti-RacismPlan@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk
The feedback window is open until Monday 30 June.
