NHS Lanarkshire’s Stop Smoking Team has created a new Instagram page to share information about vaping, particularly for young people.
The page uses the ‘Escape the Vape’ branding and theme developed by art and design students at New College Lanarkshire and is aimed at young people who vape, or who are considering vaping.
The page can also be used by adults and health professionals looking to learn more about the harms of vaping.
Clare McCool, Alcohol Harms & Other Substances – Team Leader, Quit Your Way, NHS Lanarkshire, said: “The harms associated with vaping are still very much unknown, however emerging evidence shows that it is not risk free and we don’t know much about the long-term effects.
“Most vapes contain nicotine, which is addictive. With teenagers’ brains still developing, they can become addicted to nicotine much faster than adults.
“This is why we are keen to support young people who vape, or who are considering vaping, so they are aware of the risks and harms vaping can cause.
“By following this Instagram page, young people, parents and carers can access trusted information, advice and support to help them make informed choices.”
