Elaine Carter’s colleagues will miss her knowledge and experience – not to mention her baking skills as she retires after a remarkable 44 years’ service.
Elaine retired in her role as district nursing sister at the end of July.
She started nurse training at Monklands in 1979 after a period working at Bellshill maternity. She worked in ICU at Monklands before training as a district nurse and taking up roles in Airdrie, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth as part of the day team and evening nursing service.
Elaine lives with her partner John, has three children Scott, Pamela and Eva, and is close to her husband’s daughters Rachael and Lauren. She retired on Thursday 28 July and is looking forward to spending time with her four grandchildren who all live nearby.
As well as spending time with family, Elaine enjoys baking, reading and relaxing and is looking forward to spending more time at her caravan.
District nurse colleague Elaine Britton said: “Elaine will be missed by all of her colleagues and patients. She has been a hard-working and diligent practitioner and her retirement is a great loss to the team. Her knowledge and experience is simply irreplaceable.”
Elaine’s retirement will be no crumb of comfort for the rest of her team.
Elaine added: “On a personal note, Elaine is a lovely baker and has supplied the team with many treats over the years. Her meringues are legend and I hope that Elaine, and her meringues, keep in touch!”
