Caroline Hyland has stepped into two exciting new General Dental Service roles.
Caroline is one of only two general dental practitioners to become a Scottish Dental Clinical Leadership Fellow for this year.
The prestigious development opportunity is run by NHS Education for Scotland and designed to strengthen future healthcare and dentistry leadership.
It develops the skills of individuals at a national strategic level, with support from NHS Scotland’s dental leaders, meaning Caroline will have an excellent opportunity to expand her leadership experience and develop her skills to enhance her work with NHS Lanarkshire.
The fellowship success came just before Caroline took up a substantive post with NHS Lanarkshire as a Dental Practice Advisor.
In this role, she’s providing governance support to the primary care dental department, contributing to the improvement in quality of care throughout general dental practice, supporting practitioners and advising South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership, which hosts the General Dental Service.
Caroline said: “In August, I started the Scottish Clinical Leadership Fellowship, which runs for a year. This post has been a fantastic insight into dental leadership in Scotland and I’ve been able to take part in many projects and understand the processes that affect general practitioners.
“I’m also excited to have taken up the role of Dental Practice Advisor in Lanarkshire. I hope that I can bring my years of practice experience and help support other dental practitioners. We have a great primary care team in Lanarkshire and I’m delighted to be on board.”
