Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire has now started our joint inspection of services for children and young people at risk of harm in the area. Carried out by the Care Inspectorate, the inspection is being carried out over the summer and will run until October.
The link to the staff survey will close on the 9th June. We ask that all staff who received the link to complete this survey and that they are given protected time to complete it. During this week our inspection coordinator will discuss with our inspection team the preparation required for our record reading.
Last week was the sixth week of the joint inspection with the final case record sample issued to staff. There is a focus on children’s records during this week to ensure all records have the most recent information in the record. The process of uploading files for the inspection is now underway and will continue until 21st June.
Carrie McCulloch, associate nurse director, Children’s Services, Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, said: “The staff survey emailed out to selected colleagues should be filled out and returned before the deadline. Feedback from staff about Children & Young People at Risk of Harm is important to the inspection team and has been designed to help inform this inspection activity.
“The joint inspection activity will focus on how well the partnership is delivering its key support and protection processes for young people at risk of harm in North Lanarkshire.
“It will also consider the difference this work makes to the lives of our children and young people at risk of harm.
“The questionnaire that was emailed out to selected colleagues should be filled out and returned before the deadline. Feedback from staff about adult support and protection is important to the inspection team and has been designed to help inform this inspection activity.
“I know the joint inspection generates a lot of work for us and I’m grateful for everyone’s support in not only ensuring we do our best to keep young people safe, but also demonstrate to the inspectors that our systems are effective and help our young people.
“I’m confident that everyone involved in the inspection will play an important part in showing the good work that happens every day in North Lanarkshire.
“We’ll keep you informed of the joint inspection progress over the coming months.”
This will be a busy period for all staff across the partnership as we come together to work through the inspection. To help with the process, the Care Inspectorate has produced a useful guide which contains lots of helpful information for the inspection: https://www.careinspectorate.com/index.php/news/9-professional/5165-the-guide-key-documents
