Almost 70 GPs from across Lanarkshire met this week to learn about the quality improvement (QI) projects being delivered by local clusters.
These cluster events are held twice a year, in April and October, to share details of the improvement projects taking place across practices and to discuss the findings. There are 18 GP practice clusters across Lanarkshire, which have been supported by the Primary Care Improvement Team (PCIT) for the past three years.
The event’s keynote session was delivered by Public Services Delivery Scotland (formerly NES) and included an interactive discussion on common near-miss and never-event scenarios. Participants used a human factors-based approach to examine their teamwork, reflected on current systems and considered how to apply quality improvement approaches within their own practices or clusters.
The event’s agenda also included learning from the chronic disease management and pharmacotherapy hubs improvement work – as well as an update on the Primary Care Occupational Therapy service and the primary care and mental health interface optimisation work.
Delegates also had the opportunity to visit a number of stalls to find out more about the Primary Care Improvement Team, Occupational Therapy, LIST services from Public Health Scotland and the Accurx team (supplier of our new digital patient access system). There was also a number of posters on display, showcasing the work of local GPSTs and medical students.
Dr Veronica Rainey, Associate Medical Director, South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to attend our event. It’s so important to share learning from the improvement projects to support our GP clusters and help drive forward service improvements.”
