SPOTLIGHT

Major milestone for healthcare feedback website

May 20, 2025

We’ve surpassed 10,000 stories on independent healthcare feedback platform Care Opinion.

The national website gathers feedback anonymously from patients and visitors and shares it with NHS services so they can pass on positive feedback and learn from any instances where levels of care may fall short of expectations.

Our 10,000 stories were viewed or read 4.6 million times.

Trudi Marshall, NHS Lanarkshire Executive Nurse Director, said: “We use Care Opinion as our main way of hearing the voice and experiences of our patients. It’s a safe and simple channel for people to share their experiences and assist us in improving services.

“Without this patient feedback we wouldn’t know how patients feel using our services. It’s important we hear how it feels when attending any of our services, both the compassionate and patient-centred care our teams are delivering, and areas that we could improve.

“Patient feedback allows us to see what improvements could be made, some very small and some larger scale, and it lets us make these changes to make things better for our patients in future.

“The positive stories give us reassurance that we are doing a good job and gives our staff a real boost when they hear praise about their department or service.”

Some examples of feedback:

  • This amazing nurse deserves every bit of recognition for the amount of effort she puts in with her patients, trying to put herself into that parent’s/patient’s shoes.
  • He gave us the confidence that we would one day complete our family and we believe his expertise and judgement were essential to getting us our wish today.
  • He was so empathic, kind and reassuring and it was clear he is passionate about giving patients his time so they can understand what’s happening with their health. I appreciate the doctor’s efforts and care so much.
  • It was not just the package that was such a help – she genuinely engaged with her in such an amicable, interested manner that, by the end, my mother-in-law felt she had made a friend. We are ever so grateful for this excellent service.
  • This is an exceptional, quality service, and without her l wouldn’t be where I am in pain management and accepting my long-term health problems. Physically and mentally I feel so much better – thank you so much from the bottom of my wee heart.
